This movie came highly recommended by a couple of my faithful readers and thus when the movie went through the cheap seat circuit, I knew it was my time to give this film a shot (though in reality, I didn?t know the theater was a budget theater, it definitely turned out for the best). Anyways?

The movie essentially is a satire that shows how the Tobacco lobby promotes tobacco in an era where there is a lot of reports about how bad smoking is, though nothing scientifically confirmed. At the head of the lobby group is Nick Naylor (Eckhart). He is a master of the English language and is able to put very good ?spin? on any negative news that may be heading towards ?Big Tobacco?.

Along the way, we find out that Nick Naylor has some moral values, though not in a mushy liberal environmentalist way that is sappy and leaves me feeling hollow inside. Rather, we see him instill in his son two great gifts, logic and the ability to argue. This movie was very interesting as it brought up points that while we all generally believe cigarettes are bad for you, it should really be up to you and not the government to decide if you will smoke. I love messages of personal responsibility.

Overall, this is a fantastic film. It is funny in a very creative and unique way that Hollywood often overlooks. Furthermore, the movie has character, and characters that people may actually identify with, sorry Rocky Balboa, your character is a tad bit shallow for me. This is at the top of my list with a perfect 5 galaxies out of 5.
